We ensure that all drainage of temporary works follows current regulation

Work on construction sites can lead to the erosion of the exposed ground and result in sediment being suspended in surface water run-off. If the run-off from sites reaches a watercourse, it can impact the health of the flora and fauna: sediment can affect the respiration process of fish while covering algae and other aquatic plants, interrupting photosynthesis. Because of the serious environmental consequences, sites can be faced with financial fines, which in turn will tarnish the client’s reputation. Therefore, it is important to create a mitigation plan to reduce the risk of sediment pollution and to show that there are plans in place if the preventative measures were to fail.

There are many benefits in adopting a silt & surface water plan (including appropriate erosion and silt controls). It would not only reduce the risk of construction delays but also save space and land costs by reducing the dependence on settlement ponds. In undertaking appropriate measures, the client will also demonstrate to the regulator and the public that they are prioritising the welfare of the surrounding environment, in turn reducing complaints and the potential for compensation claims.
