We work to prevent excessive nutrient levels in waterbodies, protecting water quality and safeguarding protected sites and species

Nutrient pollution is an environmental issue for many freshwater habitats and estuaries in England. Increased nutrients speed up the growth of plants, impacting wildlife, freshwater habitats and protected sites. Nutrient neutrality is the process whereby new development is designed alongside suitable mitigation measures to avoid additional nutrient loads on those protected sites. We are able to undertake appropriate assessments to support your development that demonstrate that any additional nutrient loads generated have suitable mitigation measures in place.
